“Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” stayed at the top of the charts this weekend.
For the second week running, the animated film starring Ben Stiller that sees the animals rampage through Europe with the help of a run-down circus as they try to return to a New York zoo retained the top spot in the American box office, with $35.5 million over the weekend. The third installment of the “Madagascar” franchise has now earned more than $120 million since its opening last week.
The sci-fi adventure “Prometheus” remained in second place, with $20.2 million, while the “Rock of Ages” starring Tom Cruise entered at third place earning just $15 million on its oepning weekend.
